Still in a Holding Pattern

Well, it's now Monday at noon & we are STILL waiting for the paracentesis to remove the large volume of fluid from David's abdomen -- so frustrating!!  On a positive note, David has lost about 10 pounds of fluid (primarily from his legs) due to the lasix, albumin, fluid restriction, & salt restriction that they have instituted to try to manage this problem.  He has also been without a fever for a few days now, is moving around in bed with more ease, & has been able to walk the hallways on his hospital floor with a walker.  And, we have begun working with the discharge planners for the services, equipment, & supplies that David will need to safely transition home in the next couple of days (I am hoping for Wednesday, but nothing is definitive at this point).  So, we are making some progress!!  Hugs, Janet

  1. How you both remain positive and calm throughout these challenges is beyond me. I hope the paracentesis happens very soon and provides substantial relief. Elizabeth
