Okay, So Here's The Thing ....

Wow, my previous post has solicited post blogs, phone calls, emails, & text messages from family & friends asking how they might contribute money to the Purple Stride event in David's honor -- that was never my intention!!!  David is adamant  that he does not in any way want for family & friends to feel obligated or moved to donate money in his honor to let him know that you are supporting him & love him -- believe me, we have gotten that message from the overwhelming interactions you have provided us over the past few months!!  However, if you would care to provide a donation to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network because you feel it is a worthy organization & a cause worth supporting, then by all means donate.  For anyone who feels strongly that they want to make a donation, you can visit their website at www.pancan.org, click on the donate tab, & follow the online instructions.  For anyone who wants to join us in the San Diego Purple Stride event, you can also visit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network website at www.pancan.org, click on the get involved tab, then click on the events/fundraising tab, then click on the purple stride signature events tab, then click on the find an event tab, and finally click on the San Diego event for October 13th to register online.  We entered ourselves as individuals for the event, so there is no team fundraising group to join if you care to participate in the event.

It seems that there is no end to the lengths that you all will go to make us feel comforted, supported, encouraged, & loved.  We are overwhelmed & humbled by your caring ..... thank you so very much!!

Much love, Janet

  1. Please don't misunderstand. There is no sense of obligation and whether you know how much is donated, or even if someone donates, is completely irrelevant. The fact is that PANCAN is a worthwhile recipient of donor money, some of us are in the habit of donating to worthwhile causes, and Dr. Hager's fight has shown that Pancreatic cancer is not invincible. The fact that it is someone that we know and care about may be the catalyst for our giving but it is the cause that is driving it.
Whether someone is able to give is never a true indication of whether or not they care. We care, with or without an attributed donation.
